MARK LAYNE

He has more than 30 years of radio experience, nearly all of it at KVPI. His informative shows feature celebrity birthdays and special spotlights as well as Today in History. You may hear TV show themes and classic commercials during his show as well. Listeners look forward to his impossible questions at 9:15 every morning. Mark is the General Manager at KVPI. In his spare time, he enjoys watching old TV shows and movies and doing research on his family tree. He is married and is the father of a son.

Randy Guillory

Randy is a graduate of Pine Prairie High School class of '79. He was an athlete in basketball, baseball, track, and tennis. He attended LSUA for one semester then enlisted in the Air Force in 1980. He was a Human Resource Specialist for the Air Force for 15 years before applying for early retirement. Randy is the play-by-play announcer and Sports director for KVPI. He is also the co-host of the Mark & Randy in the Morning Show from 6:00-7:00AM.


DANNY POULLARD

He has more than 25 years of experience in radio. He has worked in all day parts and versatile in his working knowledge of musical formats from Top 40 to Adult Contemporary, from Oldies to R&B. He has an easy-going cheerful on-air delivery that many listeners enjoy. Danny has developed a specialty show on Saturday afternoons, targeting the urban audience, into one of the most listened-to weekend shows in Acadiana. Danny is a graduate of Ville Platte High. The love of his life is his young daughter and looks forward to spending as much time as he can with her.

Danny works mid days from 10:00-1:30 and is the Host of the Party Time Show weekdays from 6-9pm

 

 


BRITTANY DOUGET

She is a Junior at Mamou High School.  This her first job as a DJ and she's loving it.  She enjoys spending time with her friends and her boyfriend when she's not working.  Her favorite type of music is 70's and 80's.




 


SIMON

Shurlene Fruge, who prefers to be called Simon, is enjoying semi-retirement.  She has had many job experiences but being a D.J. is beyond her normal realm of work.  She loves people and tries to rejoice in each new day.  Being a D.J. is by far the most fun job she's ever had.  She loves it and she loves rock-n-roll.  Without a doubt her grand children give the greatest meaning to her life.  She works hard to place God paramount in her life.
 




 

BILL ARDOIN

Bill is a recent retiree from the import automobile business, having over 43 years, worked for such manufacturers as BMW, SAAB and Mercedes-Benz where he was manager of their dealer network for the eastern half of the U.S.  A native of Eunice with grandparental roots in Ville Platte area, Bill and wife Kay, chose to return to their home state from New Jersey, to be closer to friends and family.  “I am delighted to be a part of KVPI and their excellent format combining music, news and community involvement.”  

Bill will host the 7:00 a.m. to Noon Sunday morning slot featuring the Old Time Radio, The Beatles Brunch, Elvis Only programs followed by one hour of Great Oldies. 


BRAD WEDLOCK

Brad is a graduate of Pine Prairie High School, class of 2007.  He actively participated in baseball and football and is currently enrolled at LSU Eunice and is expecting to major in physical therapy.  He has had many jobs, but he says that being a DJ is the best job he has had so far.  Brad currently works the Saturday morning show from 7:00 to 1:00 on KVPI FM.
 


MELIA

Melia is a broadcasting student at ULL.  Her family moved from Hawaii to Evangeline Parish when she was 16.  Her father retired after 17 years in the Army.  Dancing to live bands, eating spicy food and running long distances early in the morning are her favorite ways to avoid studying.  She decided to pursue a media career because she loves meeting new people and interacting with the public.
 


JIM SOILEAU

Jim was the Voice of KVPI throughout most of the past 50 years. He is currently doing the French News on Monday and Wednesday mornings as well as co-host of La Tasse de Café on Wednesdays. He has one of the most recognized voices in Acadiana and served as general manager of KVPI for many years. He is semi-retired.


CHARLIE MANUEL

Charlie handles the Friday French News and co-hosting duties on the Friday La Tasse De Café show. He began in radio in the early 1960's when he hosted one of the most popular teen shows, Juke Junction, for many years. He says he is constantly amazed at the number of people that stop him on the street and at the office to let him know they listen to the La Tasse De Café Show.


BONNIE FONTENOT

Bonnie has been affiliated with KVPI almost since day one, working in the office and to this day is still the office manager and bookkeeper. Despite the many hours she devoted to the company she managed to raise a family and is now enjoying her semi-retirement with her many grandchildren. She will always be "Miss Bonnie" , a second Mom, to all of us.


CHERYL DEBAILLON

Cheryl has been connected to KVPI since a young teenager when she replaced her older sister doing a weekly homemaker's program called "Listen Ladies" . After some time in college, Cheryl came home to Ville Platte to become the Traffic Manager, the position she still holds today. No, she doesn't direct traffic but it's a radio term which means she handles the commercial and program logs for the two radio stations. In addition, she does some production and on-air news on a regular basis. When not behind her familiar front desk in the reception area, she enjoys spoiling her grandchildren and traveling.


BECKY VIDRINE

Becky is a KVPI Account Representative. She has been with us for several years and her sales accounts have grown dramatically through the years. Her growing client list is a testament of her desire to improve their in-store traffic through effective radio messages that target the audiences they want to reach. Becky is a devoted wife, mother and loves spending time with her grandchildren.


PRESTON AUCOIN

Preston Aucoin was born in L'anse Bourbeuse, a community south of Chataignier in Evangeline Parish on May 25, 1932. He attended Chataignier Elementary School for the first two years in the first and second grades and moved to Ville Platte in the summer of 1939. Preston attended Sacred Heart for the next ten years, graduating in 1950. He enrolled at SLI which is now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and after two semesters left school to join the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Preston served four years in the military with two of those years in the Far East. After being honorably discharged, Preston returned to SLI and upon completion of the curriculum was admitted to the LSU Law School in Baton Rouge, Receiving a Bachelor's Degree from SLI in May of 1958 and his law degree from LSU in February 1959. He began in the active practice of law, a country trial lawyer, in Ville Platte until 1990 for a total of 31 years. Preston was elected District Court Judge of the 13th Judicial District Court in Evangeline Parish and served until 2002. He is now retired and a regular columnist with the Ville Platte Gazette writing principally on politics and is the host of his own half-hour radio show on Wednesdays from 12:30-1:00 twice per month on KVPI AM/FM.


BENNETT  BAQUET

Bennett Baquet hosts a 30 minute interview series twice a month on Oldies 92-5: on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 12:30pm. He has interviewed public officials and newsmakers and also makes room for special shows with heart warming stories about the lives of influential people. “Every person has a story to tell. Every person has an interesting tale to tell and I try to get to that story. Of course, I am not afraid to tackle the hard hitting issues that face the local residents ,” says Baquet. His shows are becoming the talk of the town with features ranging from interviews with city council members on budget issues to the life story of a well known public official.

Born August 14, 1942, the second of five sons to Mr. and Mrs. George Baquet. Bennett is married to the former Sherry Morein and they are the parents to three sons and one daughter and nine grandchildren. Baquet is a retired postal employee and has served as Mayor of Ville Platte and City Councilman for a number of terms. He is also a retired businessman in Ville Platte.
