National Pony League Tournament Update

     The Ville Platte 8 under Girls All Stars won both their pool play games today in the first day of the National Pony League Tournament going on in Youngsville.

     In the first pool play game, the Ville Platte all stars defeated Crowley 17-4.

     In the second game, the Ville Platte Girls in a game over KVPI FM 92.5 beat McAllen, Texas  by a score of 15-2 with Sports Announcer Thomas Scully.

      Their next game in pool play will be Friday at 5:30pm as they will face Moss Bluff and you can hear that game over KVPI 1050 AM.

       Bracket play games begin Friday and you will be able to hear all of the games on KVPI 1050 AM.

The Ville Platte Super Tens tonight lost to Shreveport American by a score of  10-6 in the third game of the State Dixie Youth Tournament played in Alexandria. Shreveport advances to the Dixie Youth World Series Tournament. KVPI was there covering all of the games for the Super Tens for fans and family back home. We want to congratulate the team and coaches for representing us well in the tournament. We’re proud of you.

Congratulations to the Ville Platte Dixie Majors 12 year old All Stars who defeated West Ouachita this morning  7-1 in a  game over KVPI FM. They are the state champs!!! They now advance to play in the Dixie Youth World Series in Lexington, South Carolina.


The Ville Platte Super Tens lost to Shreveport American this morning by a score of 19-16 over KVPI AM. The two teams will face each other for the third and final time today at 5:00pm over KVPI FM to decide who will earn a trip to the Dixie Youth World Series. Good luck to the Ville Platte Super Tens.

Ville Platte 10's and 12's Win in State Dixie Youth Tournament

Dixie Youth State Tournament Update:


Both Ville Platte teams won their first games in the state Dixie Youth tournament in Alexandria tonight.


The Ville Platte 12 year old Dixie Majors defeated West Ouachita by a score of 8-1. They will next play Saturday at 10:30 over KVPI-FM.


The Ville Platte Super Ten’s All Stars beat Shreveport American 21-5. They will next play at 10:00am over KVPI 1050AM on Saturday.


Both teams are only one victory away from punching a ticket to the Dixie Youth World Series.

Ville Platte All Star Teams begin State Tournament Competition Friday night

The Ville Platte Super 10's are playing against Shreveport-American they will play Friday at 5:30, Saturday at 10 and if necessary a game 3 would be at 4:00 also Saturday. The Ville Platte12's Dixie Majors will play against West Ouachita Friday at 6, Saturday at 10:30 and if necessary game 3 at 4:30. The games are being played at Johnny Downs Complex in Alexandria. The Louisiana Swamp Pop Museum operated by the City of Ville Platte is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Come view the amazing artifacts, photos, records, Wall of Fame and hear the music. Admission charge is $3 adults, $2 seniors and $1 for children under 12. The museum is located on Northwest Railroad Avenue.
