KVPI is beginning its second half century of promoting and supporting not only our Cajun music but our Cajun culture and language through its various programs. Our dedication to our unique Cajun culture began the day we first signed-on in November 1953. We are but only a hand full of radio stations that program Cajun music and specialty programs with Cajun announcers.
Our “Cajun Rendezvous” program airs weekday afternoons from 4-5PM on KVPI AM-1050 with recorded Cajun music and our DJ, Roland Manuel does the entire show in Cajun French including the live commercial messages.
In addition, we air the French news at 5:00PM on AM-1050 KVPI and a morning French news cast at 7:30AM on both KVPI AM and FM.
Our commitment does not stop there. We are proud to continue a tradition that began over 40 years ago with the late Cajun announcer Revon Reed: The “Live
at Fred's Lounge Radio Show” which airs Saturday mornings from 9-11AM on 1050 AM.. We air a live remote from world famous Fred's lounge with a live Cajun band with announcements all in French.
In addition, we program the popular La Tasse De Cafe Radio show in French Wednesday mornings from 7:45 to 8:45 with Jim Soileau and Martel Ardoin and Friday mornings from 7:45 to 8:45AM with Charlie Manuel and Martel Ardoin. The phone lines are open to get on the air to talk about events of long ago, Cajun stories or perhaps a question on how you say a certain word in French. The number to call is 363-2124.
We also air the "Tradio" program Monday and Saturday mornings at
7:45 all in French where we announce items to buy, sell or trade.
